$100 000 To Be Given Away at 4th BSV Hackathon

According to Bitcoin Association, the Switzerland-based global industry organization that promotes the enterprise adoption of the Bitcoin SV (BSV) blockchain and its digital currency, a whopping 100,000 USD will be given away at the upcoming 4th BSV Hackathon. The competition is held in partnership with leading enterprise blockchain research & development firm nChain and sponsored by digital currency and blockchain conglomerate CoinGeek.

The BSV Hackathon goes hand in hand with Bitcoin Association’s education initiatives that aim to correct misinformation and provide proper education about the original Bitcoin, which is neither Bitcoin Core (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) nor other versions of Bitcoin that do not adhere to the Bitcoin white paper. BSV, with SV standing for Satoshi Vision, is fully committed to the original Bitcoin design as laid out by Satoshi Nakamoto, otherwise known as nChain Chief Scientist Dr Craig S.Wright.

“Developer Education is a key component of the work we do at Bitcoin Association and one of the most exciting ways to incentivize developers to learn how to build applications on BSV is through competition such as our BSV Hackathons. With $100,000 up for grabs, the stakes are high, the standard of entry continues to get higher with each Hackathon, and the innovation displayed by competitors never fails to impress. The unbounded scaling, huge transaction throughput, and extensive data capabilities of Bitcoin SV make it the ultimate blockchain for developers to work with—resulting in a diverse assortment of projects each Hackathon,” Jimmy Nguyen, founding president of Bitcoin Association, commented.

The goal of BSV Hackathon is to develop an innovative application on the BSV blockchain, the use of which should be within the set theme given on the first day of coding period, which will run from June 14 to July 26, 2021. By using an extended coding period of six weeks, the Association hopes to surpass the success of the 3rd BSV Hackathon, which had a record-breaking 418 people from 75 countries participating and 42 final projects being turned in for judging.

Participants can enter the competition as individuals or as part of a team. Access to a digital platform that allows for collaboration between team members and other competitors, as well as experts from nChain, will be provided. The event does not only foster creativity and innovation but also encourages collaboration in an honest and fair environment, and competitors can even provide advice to other competitors when needed.

“There is no better entry point for developers into the Bitcoin SV ecosystem than the BSV Hackathons. With a huge cash prize at stake and expert support from nChain staff at the ready, BSV Hackathons are a great opportunity to test new ideas, try new techniques, and learn how to leverage the blockchain in new and unique ways. The standard of entry has been higher and higher with every iteration of the competition, so I’m looking forward to seeing the entries from all around the world in what I’m sure will be our most competitive BSV Hackathon to date,” nChain CTO Steve Shadders said.

At the end of the coding period, final projects will be submitted to a panel of judges, all experts in their own fields, who will choose three finalists. The finalists will then be presenting their projects live at the CoinGeek Conference planned to be held in October 2021. They will be flown into the venue if travel rules and restrictions permit. The winner will be awarded $50,000, while the second and third placers will be given $30,000 and $20,000, respectively, for a total prize pool of $100,000 payable in BSV.
