Interview with Stake CEO

Interview with Stake CEO

Stake has long been one of the Bitcoin industry’s most crypto-conscious casinos and a pioneer of provably fair technology. Having amassed an enormous following and creating a vibrant and active player community, we decided it was time to sit down with Stake and find out more about their casino and the CEO’s plans for the future. Enjoy!

TBS: What made you realise there was an opportunity to create a crypto casino?

Stake: This occurred back in 2012 when SatoshiDice was the only major crypto casino. Their website was a list of addresses you could send bitcoin to and you’d wait 10 minutes to see if you won or lost the bet. Primedice.com was our team’s disruption to this and allowed users to play dice off-chain using provably fair tech for the first time. We then followed up with Stake.com, which was our full crypto casino experience.

TBS: Stake is carving out an entirely new niche for crypto gaming, how do your players differ from traditional casino players?

Stake: Our players are far more social & savvy than traditional players. They are typically younger than the traditional demographic and grew up with the internet. They understand how casinos make money and want to play lower house edge games.

TBS: Stake’s community chat has been enormously popular, what plans do you have to develop this further?

Stake: We want to release more and more multiplayer games to keep encouraging users to engage with one another. While the main rooms are pretty swamped we will be adding more game-specific rooms for users to chat along with other social features.

“Traditional casinos make it so hard to get money in and even harder to get it out.”

TBS: There is currently no stablecoin banking at Stake, is this something we can expect soon?

Stake: This has been hotly requested from users since a lot of players feel like they are gambling twice by holding crypto. Tether is definitely something being considered by the team, we typically poll players to decide what currencies to add and this has been on our radar for a while.

TBS: Stake places an emphasis on provably fair gaming which we love, are there any plans to make the games even more transparent?

Stake: Right now fairness can only be proven if someone actually cares to verify the bet. There are some people who have built bots to audit all our bets but it is challenging because there are so many each second. Our hope is the Crypto Gambling Foundation (cryptogambling.org) can provide this solution, collecting bet streams from all provably fair sites and automatically auditing the bets.

TBS: Do you see cryptocurrency gambling becoming bigger than traditional gambling in the future? Where does Stake fit in this vision?

Stake: Crypto gambling and traditional gambling has never been more intertwined. Normal people who only have a cursory interest in crypto are buying it just to use it as a casino chip. It’s a really simple reason, traditional casinos make it so hard to get money in and even harder to get it out. Since the beginning of the internet there has been a demand for honest and transparent betting online and crypto sites are finally fulfilling that need. The future of Stake will be a casino that bridges the gap between these two worlds to dominate the entire online gaming space not just the crypto one.

TBS: What can we expect from Stake in the next 12 months?

Stake: A lot lot lot more games, slots, table games, live casino, multiplayer etc. We want a much wider catalogue of quality games available for our players to enjoy. We will continue to make some major improvements to our live sports betting product as well.

TBS: Thank you for taking the time to talk with us and good luck to the Stake team!
