How COVID 19 Has Affected Online Bitcoin Gambling

Covid 19 has had a devastating effect on the world as we know it. The human population has been under siege for the last 4 months and we have seen the knock-on effect into world markets. The tourism and travel industries have had the wind beaten out of them with lockdown spreading across the globe.

“First and foremost the coronavirus outbreak is a human tragedy. We would like to acknowledge this in opening. We send our thoughts and best wishes to all. Further, we would like to thank all the frontline workers for their dedication in this time of need”

How is the Coronavirus affecting online Bitcoin gambling?

With the global community having a lot more time on their hands it seems to have given a boost to the online gambling industry. As more and more people are going into self-isolation or forced lockdown, the demand for digital entertainment is on the increase. Worldwide land-based casinos have been forced to shut down, sending avid gamblers straight to their devices to indulge in some online Bitcoin gambling.

According to Nick Hawke, owner of The Bitcoin Strip:

“The closure of casinos and high street betting shops have also forced gamblers online, often in countries where online gambling is heavily restricted.  This has created a renewed interest in Bitcoin gambling, whose payment rails operate away from the existing financial system – allowing users to bet on sports and casino games from anywhere in the world.”

Online Bitcoin Casinos

With the closure of brick and mortar casinos, gamblers are finding equal fulfilment in the online Bitcoin casino format. There is a whole new audience that is experiencing the gratification of instant gambling at their fingertips.

Almost all online Bitcoin casinos offer the same range of great traditional games as well as some new gameplay titles.  Bitcoin gamblers can enjoy blackjack, baccarat, roulette, poker, dice, slots amongst others.

For those that need their face-to-face casino fix, there are also many online Bitcoin casinos that offer real Live Casinos with dealers to re-create an authentic Vegas experience.

New games of interest that haven’t been experienced before are exciting betting options with low odds that can be enjoyed online.  Games like crash, minesweeper and Bitcoin dice could be a whole new level of gambling for traditional players.

Live Sports, Virtual and Esports betting

At this point in time with the most live sport having been cancelled many sports betting fans are turning to virtual sports (not to be confused with esports). Even the much anticipated Tokyo Olympic games are set to be pushed forward to July 2021!

In the interim to get their fix, bettors are indulging in simulated sporting events and esports betting. These are two niche markets that are quickly gaining in popularity amongst Bitcoin bettors over this period. Who knows, there could even be a virtual Olympics edition?

Why Bitcoin is great at this time

The digital currency presents many factors that align with the current need for isolation and limitation of third party contact or intervention. Bitcoin gamblers are able to play online using Bitcoin.  By the very nature of the currency, they are guaranteed to be able to bet from the safety of their homes without the interference of a third party.

Bitcoin also guarantees players’ security and control over their money, low to no fees, speedy transactions that take up to 10 minutes globally, and unlike banks, is totally open-sourced with all transactions being immutable and confirmed once payment is made.

Bitcoin has revolutionized the online gambling landscape forever, as has COVID 19.

Conclusion

COVID 19 will eventually pass, but while the world is going through the motions of living in isolation online Bitcoin gambling can be a relief from the realities of the global situation.

Being able to use a digital asset to enjoy virtual entertainment is the perfect antidote to boredom.

Online Bitcoin gambling provides entertainment in a variety of disciplines taking gamblers virtually beyond their four walls. It could be considered to be going a long way to assisting in keeping adults over 18 at home.

“We would like to stress that you should only gamble within your means and not use savings or money needed for essential goods.  Also, take time out to connect with family and friends. If you feel you need to speak to someone please contact a Responsible Gambling body for assistance.”
